Background

The Central Maine Veterans Memorial Park is a ¾ acre park constructed on the Roderick Road in Winslow, Maine, to honor all Maine veterans, men and women, living or deceased who are serving now or have ever served their country in the Army, the Marine Corps, the Navy, the Air Force, the Coast Guard, the Merchant Marines, the National Guard and all reserve units of the above as well as the US Cadet Nurse Corps of World War II.

A special honor is noted for Winslow's own Col. William "Bill" Mansfield of Winslow, who led his own men of Company "G" off to battle during World War II.
